Falling crime rates may become something of the past as economic turbulence is expected to force some people into a life of crime. With a fifth of all crime estimated to be against businesses and a third of company owners believing crime is on the rise, Beat Business Crime has been set up in conjunction with Premierline Direct to support small businesses in the fight against crime.
To reduce the risk of business crime it’s important that businesses do all they can to protect themselves, for example by preventing unlawful access to their premises or by undertaking proper checks on new employees. With this in mind, the Beat Business Crime website has been designed to help businesses assess their individual risk to business crime and then gain information on what to do next. There is even a forum with allows regional business communities to keep in touch about crime in their area.
Risk Calculator
This short questionnaire assesses the potential risk to your business from criminal activity, within your own company and external forces. On answering the questions, you will be given an approximate risk rating based on how effective your protection measures are, along with advice on how you can make improvements. In addition, further details can be found in the Useful Tips section of this site.
Forum
This dedicated forum enables you to keep in touch with other companies in your area and share information about criminal activity. Whether you’ve witnessed something suspicious or experienced an incident, post a message on the forum to help alert your business neighbours and encourage them to be on the look out.
